(b Celano; d ?Modena, after 26 Dec 1690). Italian composer. A pupil of Carissimi, he was maestro di capella at four Roman churches and worked for the dukes of Parma (1681-8) and Modena. He mainly composed church music, and was widely known for an eccentric cantata, La stravaganza, with oddities of pitch and rhythm designed to catch out his fellow composers.
